Training Program

Driving Skills For Life ...

The Beckley Police Department is proud to be a leader in traffic safety in the State of West Virginia and pleased to becoming the first agency to offer the Collision Avoidance Training program for teens. As a progressive agency we have seen the savings and benefits to our community in terms of dollars and the quality of life all Beckley citizens enjoy. It is a sobering reality that motor vehicle collisions are a leading cause of teen deaths and injuries and they have a direct impact on our city. The CAT program has proven effective reducing teenage crashes, injuries and deaths in other areas and I am sure will be just as successful in Beckley. This pro-active program will be led by Beckley police officers that will complete many hours of training provided by the National Traffic Safety Academy trainers. Collision Avoidance Training is designed to provide teens with skills required behind the wheel when faced with an emergency situation. The program’s defensive driving and vehicle control techniques are essential for all drivers that encounter hazards daily during normal driving conditions. The Collision Avoidance Traning program program will provide advanced training that one day may be the difference between life or death for your son/daughter.
